2026 is poised to be the linchpin to achieving near term net zero targets. The progress made next year will dictate if countries and coalitions meet previously set decarbonisation milestones for 2030. The political turbulence of 2025 led to policy uncertainty in several large markets with US being particularly affected leading to an, almost abrupt, halt to renewables build out in the country. On this side of the pond, Europe doubled down on renewables with mixed results. Some asset classes fared better than the others.
