dataLive Q1 2014 renewables round-up | Market Insight

The renewables project finance market was buoyed by a number of mega-deals in the first quarter of 2014, offsetting a slide in the total number of deals, according to inspiratia dataLive.

The market remained stable in Q114, compared to the previous three months. The total value of transactions dipped by just 3% to USD10.82bn compared to Q413, despite a 30% decline in deals to 42. A handful of major USD1bn-plus deals helped sustain transaction volume, including Indonesia's Sarulla Geothermal, Costa Rica's Reventazon Hydro, Kenya's Lake Turkana Wind and Laos' Xe Pian – Xe Namnoy Hydro. The final quarter of 2013 comparatively saw only one deal larger than USD1bn close (although this was Chile's USD2.05bn Alto Maipo Hydro mega-deal).
